Artificial intelligence is increasingly shaping how Parliaments undertake their legislative and scrutiny functions. But how can AI be used responsibly and sustainably to support parliamentary work while preserving human judgement, accountability and democratic oversight?
On 22 October 2026, the Sir William Dale Centre for Legislative Studies at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London, in cooperation with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, will host an online discussion exploring the opportunities and challenges of AI in the legislative function of Parliaments.
The event will bring together academic experts and parliamentary practitioners from the United Kingdom, France and Italy to discuss whether and how AI can improve legislative work.
The event is free to attend, but registration is required.
