The International Association of Legislation (IAL) is pleased to support the dissemination of the Call for Papers for the 2nd Africa Regional Conference on Parliament and Legislation (AFRIPAL 2027), taking place on 22–23 July 2027 at the Grand Palm Hotel in Gaborone, Botswana. The conference will be hosted by the Botswana Institute for Development Policy Analysis (BIDPA), in collaboration with regional and international partners.

Under the theme “African Parliaments in the Digital Age: Reimagining Possibilities for Better Performance and Networked Governance,” the conference will provide a platform for examining how digital technologies are transforming parliamentary democracy, legislative processes, public accountability, and citizen participation across Africa.

Scholars, researchers, parliamentarians, legislative practitioners, policymakers, and other interested stakeholders are invited to submit original research offering innovative perspectives, empirical evidence, policy insights, and practical recommendations to strengthen parliamentary performance and advance democratic governance in the digital age.

Submission deadline: 22 January 2027.

All paper proposals will undergo a double-blind peer-review process. Selected papers may be considered for publication in a special journal issue or edited volume in collaboration with academic publishers.
