On November 14 and 15, 2019 took place the Sixth International Conference on Legislation and Law Reform will be held at the DC Bar headquarters building in downtown Washington DC.

The conference’s focus was how laws are written in the United States and around the world at the international, national, and subnational levels.

António Delicado and Gonçalo Carrilho, researchers from the Lisbon Centre for Research in Public Law, attended the conference and presented the “Common Rules for Legislative Drafting in Portuguese-speaking Countries and Regions” research project, developed by the Centre. This project aims to establish common Legislative Drafting rules in the nine Portuguese-speaking legal orders, to be implemented through soft or hard law.

The International Association of Legislation (IAL) was represented in this conference by António Delicado, Gonçalo Carrilho and its President, Helen Xanthaki, who participated via internet, jointly with Constantin Stefanou, with the topic “The Legislative Side of Brexit”.
