RegWatchEurope has published a position paper proposing the introduction of a “lean” interim evaluation mechanism within the EU regulatory cycle.
The paper argues that such a tool could bridge the gap between ex ante and ex post evaluations, ensuring that impact assessments remain relevant throughout the implementation of EU legislation.
According to the network, this approach would help prevent the rapid obsolescence of initial assessments and strengthen the adaptability of policies, particularly in complex regulatory environments.
The proposal contributes to the broader Better Regulation agenda in the European Union, with a focus on improving legislative quality and reducing regulatory burdens.
