The II Crystal Clear Conference, taking place on 14–15 May 2026 at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, offers a timely and engaging forum for exploring one of the most pressing challenges in contemporary governance: how to make law clearer, more accessible, and more effective for those it serves. Under the theme “From Text to Crystal-Clear Understanding,” the conference brings together leading scholars and practitioners to examine how legislative clarity shapes democracy, supports the rule of law, and influences human behaviour.
Jointly organised by Lisbon Public Law (LPL) and the International Association of Legislation, the event reflects a strong international partnership dedicated to advancing excellence in legislative drafting and regulatory quality. On 14 May, the International Association of Legislation will also hold its General Assembly, exclusively for members, with both in-person and online participation available.
The programme combines high-level keynote lectures with dynamic panel discussions and selected academic presentations. Topics include the role of clear law in democratic systems, innovative approaches to drafting understandable legislation, and practical case studies such as the rewriting of recent EU regulation. Keynote speakers—drawn from leading institutions—will offer cutting-edge insights, complemented by contributions from internationally recognised experts and emerging scholars in the field.
