The European Commission has announced a new agenda to improve the quality of EU legislation and make rules simpler, clearer, and easier to apply. The initiative also seeks to reduce unnecessary burdens and strengthen enforcement across the Union.

Its priorities include better drafting, smarter use of regulatory tools, removal of outdated rules, and closer attention to how EU law is implemented in Member States.

For the International Association of Legislation, this is a welcome reminder that good laws do not happen by chance. They require care, clarity, and constant review.

At a time when trust in public institutions matters greatly, better legislation remains one of the strongest foundations of democratic governance.
