João Tiago Silveira has been elected Co-President of the International Association of Legislation, following its Genaral Assembly held on the 19th June. General Assembly held on 19th June 2025. João Tiago Silveira is Professor at Lisbon Law School where he teaches Public and Administrative Law. He is also President of the Instituto de Ciências Jurídico-Políticas of Lisbon Law School and researcher at Lisbon Public Law Research Centre.

The Portuguese scholar will serve alongside Professor Patricia Popelier, of the University of Antwerp, who will continue in her role as Co-President of the association.

João Tiago Silveira succeeds Professor Mauro Zamboni of Stockholm University, concluding a term characterised by the strengthening of international cooperation in the fields of comparative legislation and legislative quality. Professor Mauro Zamboni was elected Honorary President of IAL in the same General Assembly.

In the 19th June meeting, Professor Fitriani Ahlan Sjarif, from Universitas Indonesia, was elected as IAL’s Board Member. Professor Fitriani Ahlan Sjarif is the first IAL Board Member from Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

The other board members of IAL (Professors Felix Uhlmann, Ittai Bar-Siman-Tov and Maria Mosmouti) will continue in their respective roles.
